Optic Disc Drusen

Also known as: optic nerve head drusen, buried optic disc drusen, pseudopapilloedema, pseudopapilledema, ODD

Overview

Calcified or partially calcified deposits within the optic nerve head that may simulate disc swelling and can be associated with progressive nerve-fibre-bundle visual-field loss. Suspected or confirmed drusen do not automatically exclude true optic-disc oedema or raised intracranial pressure; concerning symptoms, examination or uncertainty must follow the papilloedema pathway.
