Overview
A reduced ability to generate or sustain accommodation for the demand, giving near blur and discomfort that build with reading rather than being present from the first word. Amplitude falls below the age expectation and dynamic retinoscopy shows a lag, with the complaint reproducible under sustained near demand. It separates from convergence insufficiency by which system fails when each is tested on its own.
