Paediatric Optometry
Enter the child’s age and what you found — the tool returns the age-appropriate acuity norm, refractive-prescribing guidance, amblyopia risk factors and a red-flag referral triage, then hands off to the myopia, binocular vision and disease workflows.

Guidelines, thresholds and references
Acuity norms follow age-banded optotype data (recognition acuity matures later than grating acuity — 6/6 typically after ~6 years). Refractive-prescribing thresholds are the AAO Pediatric Eye Evaluations PPP Table 3 “levels warranting consideration for correction” and tighten with age; the esotropia column is far stricter. Amblyopia risk factors are the current AAPOS uniform-guideline thresholds (anisometropia > 1.25 D, hyperopia > 4.00 D, age-dependent astigmatism and myopia, manifest strabismus > 8 Δ). Referral urgency follows RANZCO paediatric guidance. All values require practitioner review before being treated as settled.
